So if you follow the advice of your counsel, you’re going to be okay provided you have exceptional counsel.
Which brings me to another point. If you are looking to hire a bankruptcy attorney, don’t hire an attorney just on price. What you will get is just a cheap bankruptcy. Don’t hire an attorney just because he’s the cheapest guy out there. And don’t hire an attorney just because you saw something on TV. Do your homework and investigate and research the attorney before you make a decision to hire. Why not take the time to talk to two or three attorneys before you make a decision? Hopefully you are only going to have to file bankruptcy one time in your life. Make sure you do it correctly so you don’t have any problems going forward.
Make sure the attorney is knowledgeable in the area of bankruptcy law. Make sure the attorney makes you feel comfortable with the process. Is the Chicago bankruptcy attorney answering all of the questions that you have? When you visit the office, do you feel like they are and actually a working office? Gauge the staff; gauge the other attorneys, what is the atmosphere like? Do you get the sense that they do any kind of cases that walks through the door or do you sense that you really hired a bankruptcy firm with bankruptcy at their core?

You want to make sure that the attorney you hire has the ability to handle your case with ease. There are things that crop up in a bankruptcy case that can be very difficult for a novice or someone who does not practice by the bankruptcy book on a regular basis.
